AsSalaamu 'Eleikum wa Rahmatullah!
We at Masjid Al-Momineen wish you and your family a blessed Ramadhan. According to credible U.S. Muslim sources , Ramadhan will commence, inSha'Allah, on Wednesday, August 11. Please check the Masjid website starting August 9 or call 404.294.4058 for up to date information.

The doors of contrition are wide open during this holy month. Let us take advantage of that by constantly seeking Allah's - 'Ezza wa Jal - Istighfar. Let us also take a step further - indidvidually and collectively - to help the indigent. Let us not limit our assistance to just the poor around us. Let us extend our generosity - those of us who have a little - to those who don't in other parts of the world as well - especially now due to the prevailing global economic crisis. Fasting is obligatory on all capable Muslims. But, if we neglect to help the poor, we fail to understand the true nature of this important obligation.

Don't forget we have the necessary resources at Masjid Al-Momineen to distribute your Zakat to the needy in Atlanta for you. Paying Zakat online is only a single click away.

We purchased one more acre of Land!
It has been a while since our last newsletter was published. A number of developments have taken place since then. Masjid Al-Momineen property is now larger by 1 acre. That's right. We were able to purchase a piece of adjacent land at a bargain price of $94,000. We thank Allah SWT, and then our donors for this opportunity. We are also very grateful to Haji Agad and his brother who negotiated down the original asking price from $150,000.

Imam Zahid leads Tarawih prayers in Ramadhan
Another development is that Imam Zahid is now leading the Maghrib and 'Isha prayers weekly on Tuesday nights. He gives lectures on various topics of Fiqh between Maghrib and 'Isha. He is leading the Jum'a prayers once a month. He has also been gracious enough in agreeing to lead all the Tarawih prayers during the month of Ramadhan, inSha'Allah. He will be assisted by a number of our young Huffaz. We urge you to bring your family for nightly Iftar to Masjid Al-Momineen and to pray Tarawih with us if you can. Imam Zahid is a Hafiz of Qur'an. His recitation and Tajweed is exemplary. He has spent a life-time studying and teaching Islam in various parts of the world, including the Middle East. He speaks fluent Arabic and English. He served as Imam at Al-Farooq Masjid for a number of years. He currently gives Khutbas in Alabama and as of May at Masjid Al-Momineen on a part-time basis.
