To our Donors,
THANK YOU!!!
from Masjid Al-Momineen's management team
AsSalaamu 'Eleikum wa Rahmatullah. May Allah SWT reward you immensely for partaking in Masjid Al-Momineen's December 19, 2008, fundraiser.
The event was a great success thanks to your participation and generosity. That momentous event inaugurated our community's will to move forward
with our plans to build a new Masjid and community center. Many donated in cash while many others made pledges. We count on our donors' fullfilment
of their pledges and on Allah's - SWT - guidance to turn our common dream into a reality. The design concept that was so well-received by all in
attendance will remain just that - a design until and unless all these pledges are paid in full and then some. Our work has just begun. We are still
quite a distance away from our target of $1MM to break ground. We believe in Allah SWT and we are confident that - with His Help and your
generosity - we will, inSha'Allah, build the new Masjid by December of 2010.
To that end, we plan to hold a series of fundraising events during the course of the next two years. We ask for your continued participation
and support. Please stay tuned and visit the Events page of the Masjid's website
regularly for future announcements.
What to expect in January 2009
Your receipts are coming in the mail
As soon as all of our donor information is tabulated, you will receive a formal acknowledgment of your contribution as a receipt either by U.S.
ground mail or electronically via email by the end of January, 2009. Please note that the Internal Revenue Service may require you to provide a
receipt as evidence of your contribution. A copy of your cancelled check alone will no longer be sufficient for tax purposes.
If you made a pledge,
expect to receive a reminder email or letter from us beginning in January. You may pay your pledge by taking advantage of the convenience and
complete security of our online donation mechanism using any major credit or debit card.
'Ashuara: 10th Day of Muharram
'Ashura falls on Wednesday, January 7 in N. America
It is mustahab to fast and give of what Allah SWT has blessed us in charity to those without means on 'Ashura. 'Ashura is also the day in which
Yazid's army mercilessly massacred Hussein ibn Ali RA, the grandson of our beloved Prophet SAW, along with dozens of his family members and
companions in cold blood. That was a very dark day in history of Islam. However, his sacrifice, steadfastness, and unwavering stance against
injustice and tyranny stands to serve as a model for all humanity and specifically for Muslims for all time to come. So, let us celebrate 'Ashura by
fasting, by helping those in need, and by making du'as for the martyrs of 'Ashura.
